A working group meeting was held on May 22-23, 2025, hosted by Tarsus University, as part of the COST Action CA21120 HIDDEN: History of Identity Documentation in European Nations: Citizenship, Nationality, and Migration. The meeting was attended by academics from the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the University of Malta (Malta), the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (Moldova), the Institute of Geography after Hasan Aliyev, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Azerbaijan Republic (Azerbaijan), Özyeğin University, Yıldız Technical University, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, and Bursa Uludağ University. Between May 22 and 23, Action participants, Tarsus University academic staff, and students evaluated and discussed Turkey's migration management and the documentation process for migrants in various areas, including education, health, and local governance. On the second day of the meeting, Cengiz Hışman, Provincial Migration Specialist at the Mersin Provincial Migration Directorate, gave a presentation on legal and administrative issues related to the documentation process for migrants. Within the scope of the BİLMER Project, Nihal Yıldız, a project specialist at the Mersin Chamber of Craftsmen and Merchants, provided consultancy services on the registration of migrants in the labor market, support for business establishment and work permits, and shared experiences on the difficulties migrants face in obtaining work permits and other issues. The meeting concluded with discussions on new project and academic work plans.
